Founders Note - November 26th 2025
For the last 8.5 years, we’ve had the privilege of introducing millions of people to plant-based dining, often as their first experience with vegan food. Seeing guests discover how good plants can taste through our cafés, cookbooks, and online school has been one of our greatest joys.
Through recent reflection, conversations, and feedback from our community, one thing has become clear: by widening our offering slightly, we can introduce plant-forward eating to even more people. A small shift in our menu allows guests who may not usually choose a fully vegan café to step into the Kynd experience, and that means more people discovering and celebrating plant-focused food.
With this in mind, we have decided to transition Kynd from a vegan café to a vegetarian café, introducing free-range eggs and dairy to a small number of dishes. The heart of our menu is not changing, it will remain majority vegan, with all additions clearly labelled so guests can make choices that feel right for them.
We know this shift may bring mixed feelings, and we understand that some concerns can’t be eased with words. For those who want clarity around sourcing, we’ve personally visited and vetted small local producers we trust, and plant-based milks will continue to be our default.
We’ve also reviewed our kitchen operations to minimise cross-contamination, using separate equipment where possible. While we’ll always do our best, we want to be open that we cannot guarantee a completely vegan kitchen environment.
Kynd has never been only about the food, it has always been about connection, community, joy, and showing people how incredible plants can taste! That mission still remains at the centre of everything we do. With your support, we’ll continue celebrating plants, serving food with intention, and welcoming guests from around the world for many years to come.
With Kyndness,
Lauren & Corryn
