Our Story

What started as a small café in Bali has grown into a global brand redefining how people come together, eat, express themselves, and experience joy. After 8 years of operating, Kynd has evolved far beyond its small beginnings, becoming a place and a feeling that inspires connection, creativity, and a more intentional way of living.

Since opening our first café in 2017, Kynd has grown into three thriving venues across Seminyak, Canggu and Uluwatu, each welcoming hundreds of guests every day. As we evolved, we transformed our original space into an ice-creamery and expanded into fashion with our Koncept by Kynd stores in Seminyak, Ubud, Uluwatu, and Canggu. These spaces filled with our in-house brands invite our community to experience Kynd in new ways and take a little piece of Bali home with them.

FOUNDERS

Kynd was created by friends and founders Corryn Queenan and Lauren Camilleri, born from a shared belief that good food has the power to bring people together and spark real connection. With a background in marketing and hospitality, Corryn leads the creative direction of Kynd, shaping the storytelling, identity, and experiences that define the brand.

Lauren brings a deeply intuitive palate and a love for food and hospitality, guiding the flavours, menus, and creative vision behind every dish. Together, they have built Kynd with heart, dedication, and a passion to create spaces that feel welcoming, uplifting, and meaningful.

EXECUTIVE CHEF

Chef Alejandro Cancino trained in some of the world’s most acclaimed kitchens, including two-Michelin-star Mugaritz in Spain, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in the UK, and Tokyo’s Bulgari Hotel. In Australia, he led Brisbane’s Urbane to three hats and was named Chef of the Year by the Good Food Guide. Today, he leads the KYND team across three venues as Executive Chef, setting the culinary direction and continually pushing quality, creativity, and vision forward.

TEAM

The Kynd team is the heart and soul of everything we do. Their warmth, passion, and positive energy define the atmosphere, experiences, and lasting memories created in our spaces. Today, Kynd is powered by over 175 talented humans from across Indonesia, many of whom have been with us since the very beginning. We’re proud that women hold many of our senior leadership roles, reflecting our commitment to equality and empowerment. With a people-first philosophy at our core, we champion growth, education, and personal expansion for every member of our team.

Here we are, eight years into our story. We’ve grown. We’ve shifted. We’ve expanded. On many levels, we are not who we once were. Our spaces, our offering, our team has all evolved and reflects how we choose to see the world today. Despite the change, one truth has never changed: our commitment to spreading kindness.

SUSTAINABILITY

At the heart of Kynd is a commitment to doing better for the planet and the communities around us. We prioritise local, sustainable, and thoughtfully sourced ingredients, choosing quality over convenience at every step. Our menus are designed to honour the produce grown on this island, supporting local farmers while minimising our environmental impact wherever possible. We are also committed to using 100% free-range eggs across all our menus and are proud members of the Indonesia Cage-Free District, an initiative supported by Animals Don't Speak Human that works towards a more humane and transparent food system.

That commitment continues beyond our kitchens. We operate within a closed-loop system, collecting organic waste from our venues and returning it to local farmers through the Urban Compost program. As proud founding members of the Desa Potato Head Community Waste Project, we ensure non-organic waste is carefully separated and transformed into meaningful new products, giving materials a second life instead of sending them to landfill. Most recently, we’ve taken another step forward by installing solar panels from Ineco Solar at our Seminyak HQ, helping us reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy and lower our overall footprint.
